An Aspirin, Anyone? Peter Kirk and I are Sages.

Well, I decided to take a shot at the Spiritual Types Test that Peter the Sage and Elshaddai the Mystic took.  I was hoping to come out as a theologian or something like that.  Sage seems to be close.

And it doesn’t hurt having Peter Kirk as a partner:

You are a Sage, characterized by a thinking or head spirituality. You value responsibility, logic, and order. Maybe that’s why you were voted “Most Dependable” by your high school classmates. Structure and organization are important to you. What would the world be like without you? Chaos, that’s what! Your favorite words include should, ought, and be prepared. What makes you feel warm and fuzzy? Like Tevye from Fiddler on the Roof it’s tradition! tradition! tradition!

Because you love words, written or spoken, you enjoy a good lecture, serious discussions, and theological reflection. Prayer for you usually is verbal. You thrive on activity and gatherings of people, such as study groups. Sages on retreat likely would fill every day with planned activities, leaving little time for silence or solitude.

We need Sages for your clear thinking and orderly ways. You pay attention to details that others overlook. Sages make contributions to education, publishing, and theology. You often are the ones who feel a duty to serve, give, care, and share with the rest of us.

On the other hand, sometimes you seem unfeeling, too intellectual, or dry. Can you say “dogmatic”? You may need to experience the freedom of breaking a rule or two every now and then. God’s grace covers Sages too, you know!

“On the other hand, sometimes you seem unfeeling, too intellectual, or dry”—this is not good! :-)

This Test is so messed up!  How can I cry it’s tradition! tradition! tradition!—unless it’s in disgust?

This is a mockery!  I’m flabbergasted!

  1. I think this test is rigged to return sage results to most biblio- and theobloggers. ;-)

  2. tc robinson says:

Esteban, Elshaddai came out a mystic. Give it a shot! I’d love to see the results. :-)

  3. I took it. It said I was a Sage. Redneck wasn’t an option. I even took it a second time changing several of the answers to my second choice and it still came up as Sage.

  4. Damian says:

I got mystic as well. I don’t cry ‘Tradition!’, I look deep within myself for meaning.

I can’t shake my mental connection between sage and chicken, though, so I’m glad I’m a mystic.

  5. Roger Mugs says:

Lover? how did i get that? this doesn’t seem spiritual at all…

  6. Nathan Stitt says:

HAHA. That is great Roger. For some reason that doesn’t surprise me at all. Keep on lovin’ life right?

  7. Gimme some sugar Roger.

I wonder what Jesus would be if He took this test.

    My result was “Test Hater”.
    Jeff

  8. Peter Kirk says:

I’m sure Jesus’ result would be perfectly balanced in the middle. Roger, we need a few more lovers, lovers of God I mean. But don’t we have any prophets in the blogosphere? Or are they all spending this Sunday in the pulpit?

  9. TC, I came out a sage as well, hence my comment; and I had seen that ElShaddai came out a mystic, hence the qualification (“most”). ;-)

  10. tc robinson says:

Stan, you’ll have to design your own to come up with Redneck. :-)

So I guess it is really flawed as many of us were saying. Hmm…

Damian, a mystic is cool. I love the ring to it, but a bit unorthodox.

Roger, you got the coolest one. Haha

Nathan, now I wish I had Roger’s answer.

Jeff, I don’t see the “Test hater” in you. :-)

I think Jesus would defy our expectation. It happened two millennia ago.

Peter, I don’t think Jesus would have been in the middle. By the way, What do you mean?

Esteban, I got you. One more sage, I say.

  11. Peter Kirk says:

I mean that Jesus had a perfectly balanced personality. That implies that he would score right in the middle on any tests like this. Well, maybe.

  12. I got Sage as well, which (eerily) is true. I think waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much for a 17 year old

  13. Nathan Stitt says:

I just re-took the test and put in answers that were very community or other focused and it returned a result of prophet. Looks like we should all be less selfish if we don’t want to be miserable selfish old sages ;)

  14. tc robinson says:

Peter, it’s just that I see Jesus as being so radical and revolutionary. But I agree with the “balanced personality” idea.

Douglas, Welcome! We have a meeting of all the sages tomorrow. ;-)

  15. tc robinson says:

Nathan, I think I might just retake the test and see what happens…

    Good idea.

  16. David Ker says:

You’re all a bunch of weirdos. I’m a lover, obviously.

  17. tc robinson says:

Now David that is quite a transformation! Think about it! I know you’ll figure it out. ;-)

  18. stuart says:

I took the test twice with two different sets of answers and STILL came out as a Sage.

    It’s rigged.

  19. Sages drive Mystics crazy…

  20. tc robinson says:

Stuart, I believe a Mystic designed it. :-)

    El, Do you agree?
