Let me remove all suspicions immediately: I do not have the English text in mind. And neither am I speaking about the symbolism of this “confusing” book.
Rather, I’m referring to the Greek text. About a week ago I decided for the first time to read through the Greek text of the Apocalypse (I had read portions of it before but not the entire text.).
So far, I’ve found it to be among the easiest of the New Testament documents to read in Greek. It’s sure not on the same literary level as Luke-Acts or The Letter to the Hebrews.
In fact, Professor Daniel B. Wallace in his Greek Grammar Beyond the Basics lists The Book of Revelation as “Semitic/Vulgar,” that is, its background and literary style bearing a Jewish influence while robed in common, everyday Greek.
And I still wouldn’t be able to help you decide whether or not you should be a Partial Preterist, a Full Preterist, a Historicist, a Futurist, or an Idealist.
I’m just reading through…
