I. Me:
I live in California with my wife and two kids, ministering the gospel of King Jesus to a local fellowship. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Biblical Studies and a Master’s degree with an emphasis in New Testament Greek. I enjoy reading my Greek New Testament, Systematic Theologies, and so on…
In addition: I’m an ordained Southern Baptist minister who believes in the doctrines of grace (with some modifications) and all the gifts of the Spirit to empower and equip the Church until Christ returns (1 Cor. 1:7).
II. My Blog:
New Leaven reflects my journey through Scripture and Theology, while enjoying the scenery of Life related issues.
20 And again he said, “To what shall I compare the kingdom of God? 21 It is like leaven that a woman took and hid in three measures of flour, until it was all leavened.” (Luke 13:20-21, ESV, italics added)
Perhaps New Leaven may be used to advance the kingdom of God here on earth.
- And also collecting books on the Apostle Paul…
And I think blogging is so cool!

Let me warn you: I’m a Southern Baptist ordained, Charismatic, New Calvinist minister.
Clear as mud! Ahh, my hero. I’m a Baptist (rather a B.I.N.O.) turned Charismatic myself (with a few other stops along the way).
PeterM, you’re the first to comment on this page. My hero.
What does B.I.N.O stand for?
“Baptist in Name Only”-it was a “Spirit-filled” Baptist Church…we do have a few of those in Texas believe it or not.
I got you! They are all over, man.
How were you accepted in the SBC? Currently I’m finishing my MDiv at Gordon Conwell and pursuing ordination through the PCA; however, since I adhere to the continuation of the gifts I’m running into a glass ceiling in certain locations. I’ve been doing some writing – primarily for myself – on this topic. Check-out my blog sometime and see what you think. I would enjoy talking more.
Jesse, yes, it comes down to a location issue. At any rate, you must keep to your conviction. But you’re PCA? soli deo gloria.
Nice picture.
Hi, again? I see you mention in several places that you are planting a church. Have you blogged in detail about this? What can you say about this church?
Holiday,
We’re still finding our way, fine tuning here and there. But it’s been a wonderful experience thus far. Our focus is that koinonia experience both with the Triune God and each other. Keep us in your faithful prayers. Thank you.
Hello,
I have been reading different blogs for some time now and the whole bible version thing is driving me nuts. Just when I think I’ve settled on one I read something different (maybe I should stop reading blogs). I am a budding young pastor at an Assembly of God church and here they use NKJV. I was raised on NIV. I don’t care for either. I jumped on ESV back in 2001 but after reading it I jumped back off. Never really looked into NASB but after hearing it used once had no desire. I am leaning towards the HCSB but don’t like their decision on “tongues”. I am also kind of excited for the NIV2011. So after all that I want to ask you what would you recommend for my primary bible? I have come to really rely on a few of you “bloggers” for updates and input, so keep up the good work. God Bless and have a great Thanksgiving.
Randy,
Thanks for stoppying by. Well, since your church is using NKJV, that will put you obviously in a tricky spot.
But if you can get away with using another Bible, I’ll say the TNIV until the NIV 2011.
Thanks for this blog. As a fellow (reformed) Southern Baptist, I am grateful for voices like yours.
Jonathan,
I, too, am thankful for your contribution though a bit more challenging.
Man I was trying to get your blog to feed into my widgets but for some reason wordpress is tripping! Dirtbags! I guess I am just going to have to click on the link to read and interact!
Lionel,
Sorry about that, man. Yeah, WP could be frustrating at times. Interaction is always cool.
TC!!! you had my eyes crossed trying to figure out what’s going on with the white dots on my screen! LOL I love it…
Elna,
It’s courtesy wordpress. Yes, it’s nice. “-D
I like your new pictures of you.
Jeff
Me too.
I really like how humble you are.
Jeff
You change your blog look every month?
Until I get the perfect one.
T.C.
I’m also in S. Cal right now. I have some Irish family here. BTW, if I could ask, what is your eschatological position? I am now historic or covenant Pre-mill, with an emphasis on progressive dispensationalism. (Having been A-Mill, and even Post-Mill in past years) A friendly question!
Fr. Robert,
For the moment, I’m historic premil.
T.C.
Thanks to reply. Note, Wright is supersessional here, thus I feel this is a grave loss for covenantal truth, and national Israel. So stay with that “moment”! lol
Fr. Robert,
N.T. Wright has repeatedly said that he is not a supersessionist.
As for me, I’m bound by Romans 11:26ff, in respect to ethnic Israel.
T.C.
Wright can say what he wants, but by clear theological definition he is supersessional. He just adds a lot of his historical information therein. Check out his book: Paul, In Fresh Perspective, and the chapters: Reworking God’s People, and Reimagining God’s Future. Tom is brilliant, but not always biblical, or really historical in his theological system. Again, my opinion anway. His best work is with the Historical Jesus.
BTW,
I just bought my 14 year old son, The Holman Student Bible, HCSB. I liked it so much, I got myself one too, in the brown simulated leather. Now this is a friendly, full color student Bible. Even for us older perpetual students! lol Sweet! A nice tool for certain! I am waiting (backorder) for the HCSB Study Bible, coming out in October.
* The HCSB translation is not my very favorite, but its not bad!
Fr. Robert,
Yes, I do have Paul: In Fresh Perspective. I’ll read that chapter. Okay.
Hi T.C.
First time here. Cool blog
I especially like the ‘Re-Thinking’ posts. I spend a lot of my time re-thinking
An SBC Continuationist, eh? That’s gotta ruffle a few feathers.
Hey Lisa,
Thanks for stopping by. I’m still Re-thinking a lot of stuff.
Yeah, SBC continuationist. Well, just following where the Spirit leads.
I love your blog! i’ll read it all the time. feel free to stop by and read mine as well.
V. Anthony,
Not a bad idea.
